The Atlantis Resort is a perfect getaway for those 3 day holiday weekends. This all-in-one resort boasts a plethora of activities which will keep you (and your children) entertained all weekend. For years, this was my family’s Memorial Day weekend trip. I’ve realized the places I travel to the most are the hardest to write about. I haven’t been to Atlantis in a few years, so please forgive the low quality photos that proceed!
How to Gain FREE Access to Atlantis (without Staying There)
Now, surprisingly, you don’t have to stay in Atlantis to reap the benefits of this amazing 4 star paradise retreat. For years my family did, until my mother discovered if you stay in the Comfort Suites 2 blocks away, they give you free daily access to Atlantis. Just be mindful when trying to save money this way. Comfort Suites will let you book up to 4 people per room which means you’ll only receive up to 4 wristbands per room. Additional day passes can be purchased, if need be. Compare rates to see what’s cheapest for you.
The coolest way to show up in the Bahamas is by seaplane. If you’re staying at the Comfort Suites, maybe you can spring a little extra for these tickets! Once you are all checked in, tour the property. It’s rather expansive with aquariums and marine life everywhere! Then grab a drink and hang by the pool or in the casino. Shake off your flight by relaxing on your first day. For dinner, dine at Poseidon’s Table for the local seafood entrees you’ve been waiting for.
Day two is all about fun in the sun. Book a session to swim with dolphins, ride the plunging water slides with sharks, swim in a snorkel with marine life, or hit the beach. When you’ve covered all of that, have some lunch by the pool and work on that Bahamian glow. For dinner, try another one of Atlantis’ great in resort restaurants.
Take the Ferry to Nassau Island for the Sunday Straw Market, local shopping, and every island hopper’s favorite- Señor Frogs. This is a great place to find souvenirs, local art, and rum cake- a favorite of the Caribbean. Grab lunch at one of the many restaurants before heading back to Paradise Island. When you arrive back to the resort unwind with a round of golf, a spa treatment, or more poolside lounging (you can’t leave without a tan!)
It is truly paradise on Paradise Island. The Atlantis Resort is something everyone should experience. You know, Michael Jackson loved it so much, he had a permanent room there! Have you been to Atlantis? What was your favorite thing about it?
